On to the mean comment from yesterday...
Ok, so I put up a post on Facebook about our new course saying that over the last 9 years I have never been more proud of what our team has accomplished than with this new course.
Then a "well-intentioned" commenter basically says (paraphrasing here):
Right - I have a ton of debt and am trying to save money, but instead I should PAY you money for this course ... If you really cared about helping people you would give it away for free.
Here is what I wanted to say:
1. Why we don't give it away free
- We do all the time. 99% of all our content has been and will continue to be free.
- Like you we have bills to pay. We have a team of 5 people who work for SeedTime and at this point they all still like to eat and live indoors.
- Giving is at the heart of all we do which is why 35% of every purchase goes to feed starving children.
2. Why it is a good idea to pay for this course when you are in debt
We do it all the time - think college tuition. Many of us happily pay $20-$50K for the off chance that we will get a higher paying job in the future - which doesn't happen at all for many of us (like me).
This course costs a tiny fraction of that and guarantees that it will pay for itself in less than a month, or you get 100% of your money back.
Try to find a college that would do that!
But I didn't say that.
We all know that getting into a Facebook argument rarely ends well, so I just deleted it and let it go.
The reason I share this is because while she wasn't the kindest in her delivery, I am sure others may feel the same way. And so I thought it would be good to explain that a bit.
And then it was offset by this great comment from a new student:
"My husband and I sat down at the table last night and 2 1/2 hours later we had come up with a workable budget, a debt plan(the snowball concept thanks to you)and a covenant with one another to hold each other accountable.
The biggest blessing was that my husband took an active part in creating the budget and there were no screaming matches and no harsh words exchanged.
God truly gets all the glory and the praise. I thank God for the ministry of SeedTime. Your testimony and continued encouragement not to quit has given us the hope and push we needed to get on track.
I know you can't continue to correspond personally to every email sent I just want you to know how very grateful we are that you took a leap of faith to walk in your divine destiny and purpose thereby helping thousands of people just like me and my husband. Bless you. The next email you get from me will be to share the news about our debt-free status!"
If you have any questions, just hit reply and I'll get back to you ASAP!
All the best,
Bob
