Hey There, At 4 o'clock-ish this morning I decided to get out of bed. I hadn't been able to stay asleep for a few hours at this point, and just decided it was time to give in and get up. One thing keeping me up was a really big project my team and I are working on, and the other is an idea that got resurrected over the weekend. The big project is - well, big. The goal is to grow a relatively new site to millions of organic visitors in only a matter of months. It sounds daunting because it is, but the fact is I know we can do it. I've done it, my team has done, and we'll do it again. It's still nerve racking thinking through every single step that has to be taken; the process for implementation, all the content and development that's still needed, and the timeline everything must be executed on. But enough about that, this note isn't to rant about hard work. The reason I'm writing to you today is I'd like your feedback on my idea. But first a bit of background: On top of running my traffic and conversion agency, and my ecommerce business, I take on one large consulting project at a time. They usually span anywhere from 6 to 12 months. These are large engagements that require a considerable amount of my time each week, that I charge for accordingly. Beyond the additional revenue (which is great) it lets me build and test my own ideas and stay sharp at building campaigns that grow businesses. The only limiting factor is me, well - my time. I've found that even though I get to have great calls with folks on Clarity, meaningful conversations on Facebook messenger and over email, in order for me to make a significant impact on people's websites - I need to get more involved. More involved means understanding their business model, their industry, looking at their analytics, running reports, and truly getting to know them and their business. Last fall I started putting together a bunch of content and process ideas; diagrams, videos, tutorials, screencasts, the works... the idea was to create a private community to teach everything I know about generating revenue using online business models. I was going to launch it as a premium access forum and let anyone who wanted to sign-up and pay their membership fee join. The problem was as I cranked out more and more content, I didn't get the sense that it was really going to help people really move the needle. Without being there to understand the individual needs of each entrepreneur or the nuances of their website and industry - I just wasn't confident it was truly worthwhile. The epiphany I had this past weekend was a different version. ----- So here's the idea: I want to resurrect my idea for Traffic Think Tank, a private community where I share everything I've learned building and selling websites for hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars, from bootstrapped to angel-backed, with one big difference. It's not for everyone - it can't be. If I'm going to give everyone in the community the time and attention I give my individual consulting clients for $20,000-$40,000 per month, the number of members can't be unlimited. In fact, it can't be very many at all. I dedicate roughly 15-20 hours/week to my individual consulting clients - and this would replace that time. So If I'm going to spend at least an hour per week with each person; getting to know them, their business, their biggest problems, and their most important goals - I likely need to cap this group to 20 people. At 20 people I would need to charge at least $1,000 per person per month for this to make up for the lost revenue from my consulting gigs. I know that's too much - not because I don't believe I could provide a multiple of that number each and every month in value, but because not every entrepreneur that would be a great fit to work with ME is willing to make that investment out of the gate. In order for this to be worth your time (and money) we need to be able to work together, and even more so, be productive - incredibly productive. So here's what I want to do. I've created a questionnaire asking some very specific questions about you, your business, your website, your industry, and your goals. The purpose of this is for me to find people that would like to work with me - where I believe I could make a HUGE impact on their business if I gave it personal attention. One key element I should mention is you don't get just me; you get my team of proven contractors that I use to support my consulting engagements. This includes expert designers, developers, and data analysts that can fulfill on the requirements we outline and agree are needed to grow your business. As always, if you have any questions just respond to this email; I read and reply to every one. To your high rankings, Nick P.s. - Please don't share this information, I'm only asking folks on my email list. | | | |
