A Workaround for Keyword Planner

Hey There,

In case you've been asleep at the SEO wheel, you already know that Google will be shutting down public access (i.e. no cost) to Keyword Planner.

I wrote a post on alternative keyword tools including my favorite free and paid options (you can check it out here if you want).

But

I also discovered a workaround to continue to use keyword planner - and it's SUPER simple.

In order to leverage this workaround you'll need to be completely logged out of Google, clear your cache, and use an incognito window.

When you go to sign-up for Adwords you'll see this message on the first page:

Below this message are fields for your email and website.

If you enter anything there and move to the next step then you'll get locked into the campaign setup process.

You DON'T want to do this.

Once you do - there isn't an option to go back and to go forward you will need to create a campaign and provide billing information.

Instead, skip the guided setup and you'll go to the standard Adwords home screen.

From there you can go to Keyword Planner as you normally would.

If you're trapped in the sign-up process then the only way to get around that is to create a new account or to call Google Adword support and have them delete your incomplete account.

Once they've deleted your account you can sign-up again - just remember to skip the guided setup!

Lastly, please don't share this publicly - that's why I didn't write about it. If this gets out, I imagine Google will shut it down pretty quickly.

To your high rankings,
Nick

P.s. - Please don't share this information, I'm only sharing privately with you.
Crap! If you leave you will lose access to exclusive updates (like this one) and free stuff I send only to my email list - but if you must go, you can here, and there's no hard feelings. You can resubscribe at any time.
