How to survive a financial crisis: 12 tips for married couples

Yesterday, Linda and I had a "day-date" while we had a sitter for our son.

You should try it if you haven't.

For us, having focused time to chat during the day really allows for deeper and richer communication that we don't seem to be able to pull off while on dates in the evening.

While we spent a few hours sipping coffee and tea at our favorite coffeeshop in town (Barista Parlor), we chatted about our marriage and some of our financial struggles over the years.

The one key takeaway for me is that as a married couple we have an opportunity to handle financial crises with less struggle if we get on the same page, but often (like far too many married folks) we tend to let it tear us apart.

And you never know when life is going to throw you a curveball, like a major financial crisis. Lost your job? Having legal issues? Major debt?

These are all significant events that can completely derail your financial plan and in the process, put a huge strain on your marriage.

Check out today's article for 12 tips on how to survive a financial crisis in your marriage, and hopefully it will help you next time you find yourself in one.

One little thing you can do right now that will help your cause: stop reading this and text your spouse (or friend if not married) to tell them how much they mean to you.

Keep being awesome!
