šŸ‘ Check for Keyword Cannibalization [FREE TOOl]

Hey There,

Serendipity is a wonderful thing.

Every now and then, randomly, something wonderful happens - and it reminds you how wonderful the world can be.

A while back I emailed you about the dangers of keyword cannibalization and created a dead simple spreadsheet to check for cannibalization rates across your website.

I got a lot of positive replies, but one of the best was from David Krevitt, who runs CodingIsForLosers.com, a site dedicated to spreadsheet automation.

He was very interested to take my idea and make it better, which is exactly what he did - and then he was nice enough to share with me, and give me permission to share it with you.

You can check out the spreadsheet with the tool here

It uses the Search Analytics for Sheets plugin to pull data, so you'll want to install that and get it hooked up to pull in your site's GSC data.

The main settings are:

1) Ability to set a branded keyword (to exclude from the analysis)
2) Ability to set the threshold for cannibalization (Top 10, 20, 50, etc. most cannibalized terms)

There are additional sheets as well:
  • The Most Cannibalized and
  • Cannibalized Leaderboard
These tabs are where the raw data is crunched into tables - but David left them in so you can modify easily as needed to tweak the data output.

Thanks David!

To your high rankings,
Nick
