How I cut my health insurance bill by 50%

One of the most frequent questions I get from my students who are working towards full-time blogging or running some other sort of business is:

What should I do about health insurance for my family?

And I remember back in 2010 when I became the sole breadwinner and we needed to figure out this health insurance issue.

I did a lot of research and ultimately decided on Medi-Share (a Christian health insurance alternative).


My main reasons for choosing them:

  1. They were about 50% cheaper than the traditional health insurance options I saw
  2. They had been around for decades
  3. They had a flawless track record of paying claims


They aren't for everyone

Personally I have been extremely happy with them over the past 7 years - they are great to work with, I feel connected to where my monthly premium is going every month and they helped us pay for adopting our children, which was a great and unexpected benefit!
