2. The best credit card I have found for entrepreneurs...
Disclaimer: If you carry a balance on your credit card please skip this. This is only relevant to those who pay off the balance each month.
I have been blown away by the dozens of free flights and free hotel stays we have gotten just from our credit card points. I will be writing a more in depth post about it all at some point, but for now I wanted to share a great card that I started using that took our points collecting to a new level.
The Chase Ink Business Preferred Card.
Like many other chase cards it gives you 1 point for every dollar spent, which is great.
But this one is unique because on top of that it gives you:
3x points on many business related purchases - including advertising spend.
So if you run Google ads, Facebook ads, etc, then this is pretty amazing.
And they give you an 80k point bonus for signing up.
You can read all the details on their site, but I was thrilled when I found it and just thought I would pass it along!
But again, if you are someone who carries a balance, this isn't the best card for you. Paying interest charges quickly negates any of the benefits of the points provided - got it?
3. An app I am loving...
As someone with a love/hate relationship with technology, I am always looking for ways to minimize my dependence on it while maximizing the benefit.
It can be a really tricky balance, and I often find myself leaning too far in the wrong direction and using my phone more than I would like.
To help, I just started using RealizD which is an iPhone app that tracks your phone usage and reports back to you:
- How many times you pick your phone up each day
- The number of hours you are on it each day
- What times of day tend to be the worst
And then it helps you curb your behavior by:
- Setting daily or monthly usage limits
- Sending notifications if you have reached your limit
- Providing great usage reports and charts
It is a free app with a $2.99 pro version.
And for more inspiration check out our article: 10 ways to keep your phone from running your life.
My goal isn't necessarily to use my phone less...
But rather to become cognizant of my actual behavior, instead of my perceived behavior.
And it has been amazing how much less I find myself picking up my phone, just because I am aware of the tracking taking place.
My actual goal is to be more present in life...
The whole point behind all this for me is to:
- Better enjoy the moments snuggling with my 3-month old.
- Be a more active participant in the monster truck races with my 3 year old.
- Give more 100% focused attention to my wife when we are having conversations.
4. What I am reading...
The Power of a Praying Parent by Stormie Omartian.
I got The Power of a Praying Husband many years ago and I have continued to use it as a starting point each time I pray for Linda.
The reason I go back to it all the time is because the book has about 20 sample prayers that do a few things for me:
- They are great starting points for praying for her.
- They remind me of things to pray that I haven't thought of.
- They provide the scriptures needed to stand on in that area.
It is no surprise that The Power of a Praying Parent is laid out the same. If you need a little inspiration in either of these areas, check them out.
What about you? Got anything interesting to share?
Hit reply and let me know!
Warmly,
Bob
