November 2017 Issue Dear Entrepreneur, Every entrepreneur has a story of the risk that changed their careers. It's inherent in what we do. When we take a risk, we separate ourselves from the safe and steady path. We shift more burden onto our shoulders – willing to bet that some combination of skill and instinct will lead to greater rewards. In taking a risk to achieve a vision, we can change the rules and create lives of our own making. (My risk? Quitting my small-town newspaper job in 2007, renting an expensive apartment in Boston, and telling a magazine editor there that I was ready to be hired. I attribute my entire career to that decision.) Risks don't always work out, of course, but that's OK: They still always remind us of the vast possibilities awaiting us. That's why we at Entrepreneur created this November issue, our first annual list celebrating 50 daring entrepreneurs who took inspiring risks within the past year.
